Ingredients

1 block (450 g) 1 lb extra firm tofu, cubed
65 mL ¼ cup soy sauce
65 mL ¼ cup maple syrup
15 mL 1 tbsp. liquid smoke
2 cloves of garlic, minced
vegetable oil for the BBQ grid

Directions

Prep:

In a bowl, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, liquid smoke and minced garlic. Set aside.
Place tofu cubes in an airtight container and coat with marinade. Let cubes marinate in refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours.
Thread tofu cubes onto skewers, taking care to recover the marinade.
Pour marinade into a saucepan, bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.

Grilling:

Preheat barbecue to high and oil the grid.
Grill skewers for about 3 minutes on each side, brushing them with marinade.
Serve with remaining marinade.
