- Preheat the grill, setting the burners to high. Oil the grate.
- With your hands, shape the ground beef into 4 patties. Place on a plate. Season with salt and pepper.
- Grill the patties for 3 minutes or until nicely browned. Reduce the temperature of the barbecue if the fire is too hot. Flip the patties over and top with the cheese. Continue to grill for 3 to 4 minutes or until the patties are cooked through. Toast the buns.
- Cover the inside of the buns with the mayonnaise. Top the bun bottoms with the patties. Garnish with the lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and bacon. Close with the bun tops. Delicious served with fries or salad.
