5 occasions to opt for mocktails

You can slow down your alcohol pace without necessarily cutting it out completely. Rather than drinking non-alcoholic beverages in an exceptional way, here are 5 opportunities to adopt mocktails more often, for your health, but also to save money by avoiding buying alcohol.

1. Lunch with colleagues

At lunch, the day is far from over and you have to go back to work with your colleagues, so sipping a delicious mocktail while waiting for your meal may be a better choice. Especially if you want to stay focused for your meetings and get-togethers scheduled in the afternoon.

2. Participate in a 5 à 7

Meeting up with friends for a 5 à 7 at the end of a day at work is good for morale! Even though cocktails are common at this type of gathering, you should know that more and more non-alcoholic and equally festive options are now available. The other advantage is that you don’t have to worry about how many drinks you have before you get behind the wheel to get home.

3. Host a brunch

Mimosas, made with champagne and citrus juice, are often a must-have at brunch time. But starting to drink in the morning (and assuming you’re still on an empty stomach) is far from everyone’s cup of tea. The solution? A “virgin” mimosa or a more elaborate mocktail, inspired by a recipe or created from scratch. You can find a lot of non-alcoholic ready-made drinks in grocery stores that you just have to pour into pretty glasses. Add a few berries to each one, decorate with a slice of citrus fruit and you’re done.

4. Taking a break from a party

A cocktail as an aperitif, a glass of wine during the meal or a digestive liqueur: What if we interspersed our consumption of alcoholic beverages with a non-alcoholic sparkling wine and at least two large glasses of water? One of the side effects of drinking alcohol is dehydration, which is why consuming liquids that do not contain alcohol (water, a mocktail!) helps reduce symptoms and avoid a painful wake-up.

5. Après-ski experience

After a day spent hitting the slopes on your favourite mountain (or building a fort outside with the kids), a little pick-me-up in après-ski mode is always appreciated. Although it’s tempting to enjoy an aperitif drink, turning to a non-alcoholic version is the best way to resist the famous late afternoon “slump” and take away the urge to go for a nap.
