Cat grass: a healthy choice for pets
They say that to give is to receive, and it’s easy to find ways to enjoy ourselves while indulging our pets with cuddles or treats.
That’s how I got the idea of growing cat grass! Cat grass good for your cat’s health, and watching them nibble on it will make you smile! Grown from 100% natural oat seeds, cat grass has digestive properties and helps get rid of hairballs. Our cat grass is cultivated with love in Quebec at our greenhouses in the Eastern Townships, where growing conditions ensure exceptional quality. Cat grass can be given to cats and kittens, but also to other pets, like rabbits and ferrets.
Often, cats will eat the grass down to the roots, in which case it’s important to move the plant out of their reach after a set amount of time so the grass can grow back. Water every 2-3 days. Cat grass grows quickly, and you’ll be able to give it back to your pet after about a week. The grass can grow back two or three times before it reaches the end of its life and starts to turn yellow. When this happens, compost the soil, recycle the pot and start again with a new pot of cat grass!
The difference between cat grass and catnip
You’ve probably heard of cataria, also known as catnip. Catnip produces a euphoric effect in cats: they sniff it, roll in it and eat it. It is harmless, and cats like to chew it because it produces pheromones. Our cat grass is grown from oats and wheat, and won’t elicit a state of a euphoria in your cat. Instead, it can be used as a detox! This cat grass allows your cat to purge, as it would after eating grass on your lawn.
Our cat grass offers several advantages for your pets:
- Promotes digestion (natural source of fibre)
- Helps cats cough up hairballs
- Stimulates appetite
- Provides a completely natural source of nutrition that is rich in vitamins and minerals
- Can be easily integrated into your cat’s diet from an early age
- Grown in our eco-friendly greenhouse
- Does not contain chemical fertilizers
Caring for your cat grass
- Water as soon as the soil begins to get dry.
- Keep in a place with a lot of light.
Enjoy!
