Montreal, June 9, 2016 – Following the devastating forest fires in Fort McMurray and surrounding areas, IGA customers mobilized for two weeks in May to offer their support to Albertans. Over $475,000 was collected thanks to the generosity of customers at some 288 stores. Grocers from participating Sobeys inc. and Sobeys Québec banners across the country succeeded in raising a total of more than 4.1 million dollars. It is through concrete actions like this that customers and the entire network demonstrated their solidarity with fire victims and offered support that made a real difference. IGA and Sobeys Québec grocers wish to warmly thank all the customers who contributed to the success of this major fund raising effort.
