First Charles-Bruneau gastronomic soirée

Business community mobilizes to raise $306,000 for children with cancer

The Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau is a leading organization with a lofty vision, that of curing all children living with cancer.

Montreal, March 3, 2016 – Under the honorary presidency of Pierre St-Laurent, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Multi-Banner Branch at Sobeys Québec, IGA held the very first Charles-Bruneau gastronomic soirée in downtown Montreal on February 11th. Thanks to the generosity of some 600 guests, chef Jérôme Ferrer, sommelier François Chartier, and event sponsors, no less than $306,800 was raised for the Fondation Centre de Cancérologie Charles-Bruneau (FCCCB).

"When it was time to come up with a new fundraising event ‒ a gathering to support the Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau ‒ it seemed natural for us as epicureans to combine good food with good wine,” says Marie-Noëlle Cano, Director of Communications and Sustainable Development at Sobeys Québec. “Inviting our guests to a gastronomic soirée with none other than chef Jérôme Ferrer and sommelier François Chartier proved to be the perfect combination," she adds proudly.

The Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau is a leading organization with a lofty vision, that of curing all children living with cancer. In fact, guaranteeing the growth and evolution of our society must start with caring for our children and curing them. This philosophy fits perfectly with that of IGA and its grocers who have been supporting the foundation for several years. IGA is therefore all the more proud to be associated with this event that raised awareness in the business community about the importance of a noble cause that  gives children with cancer the best chances for recovery by financing research and supporting the development of pediatric oncology projects.

Back next year!

So we’ll see you at the February 2017 edition where we hope to have a full house once again and demonstrate the business community's support for such an important cause ‒ the survival of our children.
