Tuna tataki with sesame

Tuna tataki with sesame

Ingredients

2 tuna steaks, completely thawed
125 mL (½ cup) black and white sesame seeds, grilled
To taste sea salt and ground pepper
45 mL (2 tbsp.) canola or peanut oil
To taste Geneviève Everell’s sesame mayonnaise
To taste microgreens (optional)
To taste lemon wedges
To taste diced zucchini and sautéed edamame, as a side dish

Directions

Place sesame seeds on a large plate and press steaks into seeds, coating well.
In a large skillet, heat oil over high heat and sear steaks 30 to 45 seconds per side, including the edges. Remove from heat and allow to sit for 2 or 3 minutes.
Cut steaks into 1 cm (½ in.) slices and salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with sesame mayonnaise and a few microgreens, if desired. Serve with lemon wedges and diced zucchini and sautéed edamame side dish.
