Ingredients
Caramelized onions

2 onions, thinly sliced

2 tbsp (30 ml) olive oil

1 tbsp (15 ml) red wine vinegar
Avocado relish

2 avocados

1/2 lemon, juice only

1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil

1 tsp (5 ml) Dijon mustard

1 green onion, finely chopped
Burgers

1 lb (454 g) fresh tuna, finely chopped

Tabasco sauce, to taste

4 hamburger buns
-
Boston lettuce leaves

Salt and pepper

Directions
Caramelized onions
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the onions in the oil for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Deglaze with the vinegar. Set aside.
Avocado Relish
- In a bowl, mash the avocado with a fork. Stir in the lemon juice, oil, mustard and green onion. Season with salt and pepper. Place a sheet of plastic wrap directly on the avocado relish and refrigerate while cooking the tuna patties.
Burgers
- Preheat the grill, setting the burners to high. Oil the grate.
- In a bowl, combine the tuna, 1/4 cup of the avocado relish and hot sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Shape into 4 patties and carefully place them on the grill. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Toast the buns.
- Generously spread the remaining avocado relish on the inside of the buns. Place the tuna patties on the bottom halves of the buns and garnish with the caramelized onions and lettuce leaves. Cover with the tops of the buns.
