Ingredients

Venison patties

  1. 1 kg (2 lb) ground venison
  2. 1 small onion
  3. 60 mL (1/4 cup) bread crumbs
  4. 2 mL (1/2 teaspoon) garlic powder
  5. 60 mL (1/4 cup) Kansas City Style Smokey Barbecue Sauce or Regular Barbecue Sauce

Garnishes

  1. 8 Whole wheat hamburger buns
  2. Old-fashioned mustard
  3. Oka-style raclette cheese slices
  4. Baby dill pickles, thinly sliced
  5. lettuce leaves

Directions

  1. Preheat barbecue to medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground venison, onion, bread crumbs and garlic powder. Shape into 8 thin patties. Brush each patty with barbecue sauce.
  3. Place patties on barbecue grill and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until meat is no longer pink inside and internal temperature reaches 70°C (160°F).
  4. Place hamburger buns on the upper grill and toast for about 2 minutes, or until hot.
  5. Garnish each burger as desired.
