Sirloin Brochettes with Beer and Fennel

Ingredients

  1. 125 mL (1/2 cup) olive oil
  2. 125 mL (1/2 cup) of Beer
  3. 1 fennel root, cut into large pieces (save the leaves for the marinade)
  4. 2 green bell peppers, seeded and cut into large pieces
  5. 450 g (1 lb) sirloin beef cubes
  6. 15 mL (1 tablespoon) Old-Fashioned Whole Grain Dijon Prepared Mustard
  7. 3 garlic cloves,
  8. To taste, salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Place the sirloin cubes on 4 wooden skewers in alternation with pieces of green pepper and fennel. Place in a shallow dish and set aside.
  2. Combine the beer, olive oil, mustard, garlic and fennel leaves in a small bowl. Pour the mixture over the meat and ensure that it is thoroughly coated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  3. Drain off the marinade. Barbecue the brochettes on medium-high for 7 minutes. Turn them over and cook for another 7 minutes for medium doneness. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
  4. Serve with rice and a tomato salad.
