Ingredients
Bbq sauce

125 mL (½ cup) store-bought BBQ sauce

15 mL (1 tbsp.) maple syrup

15 mL (1 tbsp.) cider or white wine vinegar
Meat patties

4-6 slices bacon, finely chopped
-
450 g (1 lb.) medium ground pork
-
1-2 mL (¼-½ tsp.) Sriracha sauce or other spicy sauce, or to taste

5 mL (1 tsp.) salt
-
To taste, freshly ground pepper

4 slices provolone cheese
-
4 multigrain flatbread for burgers or 4 seasoned Kaiser buns

125 mL (½ cup) mayonnaise
Toppings* (optional)

To taste, lettuce leaves

To taste, grilled onions slices

To taste, grilled sweet pepper strips

Directions

Preheat barbecue to medium-high.

In a skillet over high heat, fry bacon until crispy. Pat dry and set aside.

Combine all BBQ sauce ingredients and set aside.

Mix pork, chopped bacon, Sriracha sauce, salt, pepper together in a bowl.

Lightly oil hands and form 4 patties, 10 cm (4 in.) in diameter. Do not over handle meat.

Lightly oil the barbecue grill and cook patties about 4 minutes per side, or until internal temperature reaches 70 °C (160 °F), brushing with BBQ sauce.

Add cheese at midway point.

Grill bread 1 to 2 minutes per side.

Spread with mayonnaise, top with some lettuce leaves, onion slices, and pepper strips, if using. Serve burgers with a salad.
*Note
You can grill onion slices and pepper strips at the same time as the burgers, mixing them beforehand with a little olive oil and salt.
