Ingredients

  1. 45 mL (3 tbsp.) white wine
  2. 45 mL (3 tbsp.) honey
  3. 450 g (1 lb) Bosc pears, peeled, cored and cubed
  4. 1 star anise
  5. 1 whole clove
  6. 1 cinnamon stick

Directions

  1. Bring white wine and honey to a boil in a large saucepan.
  2. Add pears, star anise, clove and cinnamon stick.
  3. Cover and simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes, or until pears are translucent. Remove spices and pour pears into a blender.
  4. Blend until smooth.

Variation: Add fresh thyme and serve as a condiment for pork.
