Ginger Syrup
- In a small pot, bring the water, honey and ginger to a boil. Simmer for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and let cool. Strain the syrup through a sieve placed over a bowl. Compost the ginger.
Punch
- In a punch bowl, combine the orange juice, rum, vodka, lemon juice and ginger syrup.
- Thread the orange slices onto the sticks of fresh ginger. Add to the punch along with the cranberries. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- When ready to serve, add the ginger ale and ice cubes.
Chef’s tip
For punch that will last longer sitting out on the counter without becoming too diluted, take the time to make ice cubes with orange juice.
There’s nothing more festive than a homemade punch to entertain family and friends over the holidays. In this version, ginger syrup is made first and mixed with orange juice, rum and vodka. Serve in a large bowl!
