Italian Sausage Burgers with Fennel Salad

Ingredients

Salad

  1. 1 1/2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  2. 2 tsp. sugar
  3. 1 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
  4. 1/4 tsp. ground pepper
  5. 1/8 tsp. salt
  6. 1 1/2 cups fennel, finely sliced
  7. 1 cup red onions, finely sliced

Hamburgers

  1. 1 pack of Stefano Faita Italian sausages (mild or spicy)
  2. 4 slices of Provolone cheese
  3. 4 hamburger buns

Directions

Salad Prep:

  1. Mix vinegar, sugar, oil, and salt and pepper in a large bowl until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add onions and fennel. Mix well.
  3. Set aside for 30 to 60 minutes at room temperature, turning occasionally.

Hamburger Prep:

  1. Prepare and heat the barbecue.
  2. Remove the sausage meat from its skin and form into 4 flattened balls.
  3. Place on the grill.
  4. Grill on each side for 5 minutes.
  5. Melt a slice of cheese on each ball for 1-2 minutes until hamburgers are cooked.
  6. Grill the hamburger buns for about 1 minute.
  7. Scoop around ¼ cup salad onto the bottom bun using a slotted spoon. Add your cooked burger and close with the top bun.
