Ham and cheese baguette

Ingredients

  1. 1 Au Pain Doré ciabatta baguette
  2. 45 mL (3 tbsp.) butter at room temperature
  3. 45 - 60 mL (3 - 4 tbsp.) old-fashioned mustard
  4. 240 g (8 oz.) brie, in ½-cm (¼-in.) slices
  5. 1 crunchy red apple, thinly sliced
  6. 15 mL (1 tbsp.) maple syrup
  7. 5 mL (1 tsp.) balsamic vinegar
  8. 240 g (8 oz.) smoked ham, thinly sliced (about 20 slices)
  9. To taste, freshly ground pepper
  10. To taste, Boston lettuce leaves (or other lettuce)

Directions

  1. Cut the two ends off the baguette.
  2. Using a bread knife, slice baguette in half lengthwise. You can also cut baguette into 3 or 4 sandwiches now. If using a regular baguette, remove a little dough from the inside.
  3. Spread one baguette half with butter and the other with old-fashioned mustard.
  4. Place brie slices on one of the baguette halves. Top with apple slices.
  5. Drizzle maple syrup along entire length of baguette, and balsamic vinegar too if des.
  6. Add slices of ham and lightly season with salt and pepper.
  7. Add lettuce leaves. Top with other baguette half.
  8. Cut baguette into 3 or 4 servings and serve with green salad.
