Fruit skewers with maple sauce

Ingredients

4 kiwis, peeled and cut into eight pieces each
8 strawberries
16 green grapes
16 red grapes
1 star fruit
4 pineapple slices
8 balls of honeydew melon or cantaloupe
250 mL (1 cup) maple syrup
250 mL (1 cup) 2% evaporated milk
15 mL (1 tbsp.) cornstarch diluted in a little water
45 mL (3 tbsp.) Grand Marnier (optional)

Directions

Thread fruit onto eight wooden skewers, alternating types of fruit. Set aside.
In a small saucepan, heat maple syrup and evaporated milk.
Bring to a boil, then add diluted cornstarch and Grand Marnier (if using).
Continue cooking for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens.
Serve two skewers topped with hot maple sauce per person.
