Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cup old fashioned brown sugar
  2. 1 1/2 cups cream
  3. 2 eggs
  4. 1/4 cup maple syrup
  5. 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  6. 4 slices of white loaf bread
  7. 1 apple and raspberry syrup

Directions

  1. In a bowl, mix the brown sugar, cream, eggs, maple syrup, and nutmeg.
  2. Slice the bread into large pieces (about 3 centimetres).
  3. Soak the bread overnight in the mixture. If you want to eat it the same day, 15 minutes will be enough.
  4. Heat a little butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Place the bread in the skillet and brown (about 2 minutes on each side).
  6. Remove from the skillet.
  7. Serve with a drizzle of apple and raspberry syrup, a poached pear quarter, and vanilla ice cream!
